Advantages and disadvantages of the extra voluntary contributions at SPIN
+ The extra voluntary contributions are a tax-efficient way to accrue extra pension. The amount you deposit will be deducted from your gross salary at IBM. No tax is withheld on the deposit. You pay tax on the benefit itself.
+ As a large investor SPIN can invest at a low cost. You will benefit from this if you make an extra voluntary contribution at SPIN.
+ You do not pay gains tax on your extra investment.
+ The extra contributions are built into the Pensioenplanner at www.spin.nl. This gives you an overview of your pension.
- What you accrue with additional voluntary contributions can only be used for your pension.
- There is a chance of disappointing returns.
Many of these advantages and disadvantages also apply to an annuity or bank savings product at an insurance company or bank.

Other questions?
Will I have trouble with the Tax Authorities if I deposit additional voluntary contributions with SPIN?
The calculation tool calculates how much extra you can contribute in accordance with the pension regulations and takes the rules of the Belastingdienst into account.
Does SPIN benefit from the extra voluntary contribution?
You decide what you want to do. We do think it is important that you choose consciously. SPIN has no commercial interest in the choices you make about your pension.
What happens to my voluntary contribution if I die?
As long as you work at IBM, your extra voluntary contribution - including return - will be converted into extra DB partner's pension for your partner (insofar as this fits within the tax limits). Your partner will receive this extra partner's pension on top of the normal partner's pension. Do you no longer work at IBM? Then your partner will receive the DC capital including the extra investment (and returns) to purchase a partner's pension at an insurance company. If you do not have a partner, the capital will revert to SPIN.
Where can I see how my money is paying off?
Your extra voluntary contribution is added to your DC capital. You can see your total DC returns at ‘Mijn IBM pensioen’.
Does the calculation tool take my fiscal space into account?
When you fill in the calculation tool for the first time, it does indeed take this into account. If you want to deposit an additional voluntary contribution later, the calculation aid does not take the previous amount into account when determining the fiscal space.
Can I deposit additional contributions if I no longer work at IBM?
No, that is not possible. You cannot participate even if you are exempt from work.
I already have a bank savings account / annuity. Can I still opt for additional contribution with SPIN?
Yes, as long as you take your annual fiscal space into account. You calculate the amount of your fiscal annual space on the website of the Belastingdienst (Tax Authorities).
Can I deposit incidentally?
No, that is not possible. The amount you deposit can only be deducted from your gross salary at IBM.
Can I use my life course savings scheme?
No, that is not possible. The amount you deposit van only be deducted from your gross salary at IBM.
